What will be the size of the dwelling unit being provided under SRS?
Residential - 27.88 sq.mt (300 sq.ft) carpet area. Commercial - Existing or 20.9 sq.mt whichever is less.
Is there a minimum number of slum households required to propose/undertake a SRS project?
No, there is no minimum number. A group of slum dwellers can initiate it, however for final approval, consent of 51% of the eligible slum dwellers from that slum shall be mandatory.
How much consent from the slum community is required for going ahead with a SRS project?
Consent of 51% of the eligible slum dwellers from that slum shall be mandatory.
What will be the tenure of my dwelling unit?/ Will I get this dwelling unit on an ownership basis?
Yes, the dwelling unit provided to the slum dweller will be on ownership basis. However they shall become rightful owners of the unit only after 10 years.
Can I sell/rent out/mortgage this dwelling unit?
For the first 10 years (from the date of allotment), the unit cannot be sold/rented out/mortgaged. After 10 years, one is free to transact on the unit in any manner they wish to.
Where will I stay when the slum is being redeveloped?
The developer/ implementation agency is expected to either arrange for alternative accomodation called transit housing somewhere close by to the site. Or, provide monthly rent to the slum dwellers so that they make their own arrangements.
My slum is on: Public land Private land Mixed ownership Is SRS possible for my slum?
Yes, SRS is possible in slums having any kind of land ownership. However, the process is relatively straightforward for slums on State govt land, followed by private, followed by mixed and the last in line being slums on central govt. lands.
